As well as providing army-focused, military advice to the Defence Attaché and to the British Ambassador, Brigadier Phil Jones is the representative in the United States of the Chief of the General Staff of the British Army, providing an essential link at the highest level between the United States Army and the British Army.
The British Army Staff, United States comprises the Washington-based headquarters element where the Military Attaché is supported by an Assistant Military Attaché, Colonel Neil Fairclough and a small staff, and British Liaison Officers and British Exchange Officers located throughout the United States. There are also British Army personnel in the UN Headquarters in New York and across the USA as students, in US Army establishments.
