US/UK defence equipment co-operation is extensive and involves projects valued at billions of dollars.
Managing UK/US bilateral Defence Equipment Policy issues is the responsibility of the Counsellor (Defence Equipment)’s organisation within the British Defence Staff located in the British Embassy in Washington DC. The point of contact is Stephen Palmer, Attaché Defence Equipment (Policy & Trade).
Stephen is responsible for advising on policy issues affecting US/UK equipment co-operation and supporting the efforts of UK industry in the US defence equipment field.
Stephen has oversight responsibility for The Defence Trade Office, which has specific responsibility for advising on broad issues affecting US/UK equipment co-operation and supporting the efforts of UK industry in the US defence equipment field.
In addition, Stephen has representatives from all three UK Armed Services on his team who are able to give specialist sectoral or project advice.
